<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method of an internal combustion engine high in combustion efficiency and very high in an energy saving effect. <P>SOLUTION: This operation method of the internal combustion engine operates the internal combustion engine by supplying emulsion fuel made of combustible oil and water to the inside of a reciprocating engine, and the emulsion fuel is made of emulsion of the combustible oil or the water an average particle diameter of which is less than 1,000 nm (favorably, the average particle diameter is 200 to 700 nm).
