Positioning and sealing of a tubular transmission filter to a tubular housing

In order to improve the positioning and sealing of two tubular parts, e.g. a transmission filter TM an aluminum housing all, in an automatic transmission, a wave spring 3 is provided between the first and the second tubular parts. The spring 3 pushes the second tubular element slightly away from the first element while the sealing between the two tubular elements is assured by the sealing element placed between the first and the second tubular element. A lip seal 2 may be provided and the second tubular element may be provided with chimney reinforcement ribs 4. The spring may be a helical spring and may be fixed to the seal. A corresponding device can be used in many fields of technology wherever two tubular elements are to be sealed and at the same time kept at some variable distance from the minimum axial position in which the two tubular elements touch each other. It thereby allows a certain axial tolerance or gap between the two tubular elements which might be necessary for the installation process.
