A method for setting a highlight scene of a moving picture and a terminal using the same are provided to have a key button to set an important part as a highlight when recording a moving picture, thereby easily searching a desired part among recorded moving picture data. Moving picture data are recorded according to a recording command of a user interface(S21). Moving picture data currently being recorded are displayed on a display unit and a command setting an important scene as a highlight scene(S22). Metadata set as the highlight scene are inputted in a header of a video frame recorded at a time when the command setting a highlight scene is inputted(S23,S24). S22, S23 and S24 steps are repeated to record moving picture data until recording is ended(S25).
