<p>The method involves making availability of a plate from heat-treatable steel with different wall thicknesses and material characteristics. The plate is shaped to a bumper arrangement (1). The middle section (4) is annealed during shaping the plate. The plate is welded to a tailored welded blank. The steel plate is shaped in such a way that the wall thicknesses and material characteristics at the middle section deviates from the wall thicknesses and material characteristics at the connection section (3).</p>
