PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical system unit having a light guiding device capable of emitting light flux approximately parallel to the light axis and a projector equipped with the optical system. SOLUTION: The projector 10 comprises: a light source device, an optical system unit, a cooling fan, and a projector control means. The optical system unit is provided with a light tunnel 75 as a light guiding device of the light source side optical system 62. The light tunnel 75 is provided with four nearly rectangle plates for forming top and bottom, and left and right faces. On both the sides of side plates 77 which are slantly facing each other, the top and bottom plates 76 are arranged, and formed into an approximately truncated four-sided pyramid by adhering and fixing the proximity of edge lines.
