PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the desired overspeed detection response time in a vicinity of a terminating floor by a speed detector installed in a car without providing any linear encoder having very high position resolution in an elevator with a terminating floor deceleration device applied thereto. SOLUTION: The differential value at the position based on a linear encoder and the integrated acceleration based on an acceleration sensor are synthesized in the speed dimension, and the overspeed is determined. The integrated acceleration is reset at the pulse edge of the linear encoder and differentiated. As a result, the response time required for detecting the overspeed in a vicinity of a terminating floor is improved to enable the correct response to the speed required by a terminating floor deceleration device.
