PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a static eliminator capable of controlling an ion balance between positive ions and negative ions generated from a discharge needle of positive polarity and from a discharge needle of negative polarity uniformly all the time. SOLUTION: A power supply 15 is connected to a positive high voltage generating means 11 and a negative high voltage generating means 12 via a positive voltage level adjusting means 13 and a negative voltage adjusting means 14. The discharge needles 21, 22 are connected to the positive and negative high voltage generating means 11, 12. A control device 24 is connected to the voltage level adjusting means 13, 14. By means that an accumulated energization time energized in the discharge needles 21, 22 is measured by an energization time measuring means 28 of the control device 24, that an output voltage of the positive voltage level adjusting means 13 is adjusted based on the measured accumulated energization time, and that the voltage level applied to the discharge needle 21 from the positive high voltage generating means 11 is adjusted, a generated amount of the positive ion formed by the discharge needle 21 is controlled to be the same as the generated amount of the nagative ion formed by the discharge needle 22, and the ion balance is achieved.
