PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a systematic error caused by a measurement principle, in a channeled spectropolarimeter. SOLUTION: This spectropolarimeter is equipped with a floodlighting optical system including a light source, a polarizer, the first phase shifter, and the second phase shifter; an analyzer for transmitting reflected or transmitted light from a measuring object domain; and a means for determining a spectral light amount of light transmitted through the analyzer. Assuming that the thickness of the first phase shifter is D<SB>1</SB>, and that the thickness of the second phase shifter is D<SB>2</SB>, the ratio of D<SB>1</SB>to D<SB>2</SB>is set to satisfy at least one of the following inequalities: 17/7≤D<SB>1</SB>/D<SB>2</SB>≤7, 9/7≤D<SB>1</SB>/D<SB>2</SB>≤5/3, 17/7≤D<SB>2</SB>/D<SB>1</SB>≤7, and 9/7≤D<SB>2</SB>/D<SB>1</SB>≤5/3.
