<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt conveyor device capable of effectively preventing the meandering of an endless belt without being affected by that a meandering prevention guide is not installed in a state of a straight line, and to provide an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The meandering prevention guides 6 are respectively stuck to both side parts on backside 34a of a transfer belt 34 by the length of the circumference. The meandering prevention guides 6 are formed of resin or plastics or the like. A following roller (tension roller) 39 is composed of a rigid body such as stainless steel. Guide members 4 are respectively provided to both end parts 39a of the following roller 39.
