PURPOSE:To obtain flame retardation by impregnating a body, made pricnipally of cellulose fiber, with an organic comound which contains phosphorus and nitrogen mixed with low formaline type melamine resin, and then drying it by a heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:A gasket is made by paper sheeting principally of cellulose fiber such as wood pulp, or by punching a sheet for the gasket. This gasket is dipped in or coated with a metanol mixed solution of an organic compound containing phosphorus and nitrogen and low formaline type melamine resin by spraying, brushing, etc., and a heat treatment is carried out, for example, at about 100 deg.C for 15 minutes for drying. Thus, a flame-retardant gasket is obtained. |
