PURPOSE:To obtain an elastic cylindrical light emitting body by forming an optical fiber into a coil to generate a leaked light in bending parts. CONSTITUTION:The light made incident on one end 2 of a coiled element 1 is leaked in bending parts of the element 1 on the way of transmission in the optical fiber. The leaked light is increased according as the diameter of the optical fiber forming the coiled optical fiber element is thicker and a coil pitch T and a coil diameter R are smaller. Plural coiled optical fiber elements 1 are combined to form a cylindrical body, thus obtaining the elastic cylindrical light emitting body. Thus, the very variant light is emitted regardless of the simple structure, and this light emitting body can be used not only as a display mark but also as a shape memorizing light emitting body if optical fiber elements are formed into a desired shape and are thermally fixed. |
