A preparation method of antibacterial activated carbon is provided to allow the activated carbon to be used as an adsorbent for water purifiers having a consistent antibacterial effect, excellent adsorption properties, and low risk in living bodies by preparing activated carbon having pure silver is uniformly present on a surface thereof as compared with conventional activated carbon doped with a silver compound. A preparation method of silver-impregnated antibacterial activated carbon comprises the steps of: applying a silver-containing compound solution which has a concentration of at least 0.1 mol/L and is soluble into water to ordinary activated carbon to dope the activated carbon with a silver compound; reacting the silver compound-doped activated carbon with an oxidizer with a concentration of at least 0.1 mol/L to oxidize the silver compound doped on the activated carbon into a silver oxide; cleaning the activated carbon by an ordinary activated carbon cleaning method using a sufficient amount of water; and heat-treating the activated carbon at a temperature of 400 to 1,200 deg.C in a hydrogen atmosphere with a concentration of at least 2% by volume for 2 minutes to 4 hours. The silver-containing compound is silver nitrate(AgNO3). |
