PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent solid powder and splash liquid mixed in a steam flow from being deposited on the top face of a covering member disposed in an evaporation active region of a continuous drying machine. SOLUTION: The covering member 9 covering the evaporation active region is provided with an opening 10 extending in the axial direction of a rotating shaft 2a at the center side of a trough in which the respective stirring blades 2 are rotated downward with respect to the rotating shaft 2a and moved, and a slant 9a declined toward the opening 10 is provided on the top face of the covering member 9, whereby solid powder and splash liquid mixed in the steam flow to descend on the top face of the covering member 9 are dropped in the opening 10 along the slant 9a of the top face of the covering member 9, and the dropped solid powder and splash liquid are made to adhere to material to be treated entrained in the respective stirring blades 2 moved downward in rotation to be transferred to the downstream side together with the material to be treated, so that the solid powder and splash liquid are not deposited on the top face of the covering member 9.
