PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile in which image data can be received automatically even when a manual reception mode is set accidentally, troublesome operation for previously registering a telephone number is not required, and increase in cost is suppressed by reducing the volume of data being stored in a memory. SOLUTION: The facsimile having a manual reception mode comprises a means 15 for setting a manual reception mode, a communication means 11 for receiving a first time telephone number from an exchange 3, a means 12 for storing the first time telephone number thus received when the manual reception mode is set in the reception mode setting means 15, a means 14 for collating a second time telephone number and the first time telephone number stored in the telephone number storage means 12 when the second time telephone number is received from the communication means 11, and a call termination response means 15 for terminating a call when the second time telephone number coincides with the first time telephone number as a result of collation.
