PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent whitening and to keep a whitening preventing effect. SOLUTION: This humidifying device comprises an electrolytic means 14 storing water in the inner part, and having an anode 11, a cathode 12, and a diaphragm 13 passing ions and isolating the anode from the cathode; and a humidifying means 15 performing humidification by evaporating or scattering water, and is adapted to supply the water on the anode side of the electrolytic means 14 to the humidifying means 15. According to this, calcium ions that are cations contained in the water within the electrolytic means 14 are gradually collected to the cathode 12 side, and reduced from the water on the anode 11 side. The humidification is performed by the humidifying means 15 by using this water on the anode 11 side. Since the water free from calcium ions that cause white powder is used for humidification, whitening can be prevented. Since a series of these operations is continued as long as electric power is supplied to the anode 11 and the cathode 12, the whitening preventing effect can be kept without a user's labor.
