<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize thinning of a backlight device and a display device with luminance unevenness restrained irrespective of an arrangement state of a light source. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight device is provided with a light source 11 made of a plurality of light-emitting diodes and a diffusion plate arranged in opposition to the light source 11 with a given interval onto a floodlight direction of the light source 11, and make the light emitted from the light source 11 to be diffused.
