<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a marking pattern by a dot or a dot array with high visibility by radiating a laser beam onto a surface layer of a light-photosensitive heat-developable photosensitive material. <P>SOLUTION: In a marking device, by radiating a laser beam onto an X-ray film 12 which is a light-photosensitive heat-developable photosensitive material, an inner portion of a surface layer 16 is melted, a cavity 16B is formed, and a dot 16A, which projects a surface out in a convex shape, is formed. At this time, an irradiation time of the laser beam is controlled in order to prevent overexposure of a base layer 14 due to an opening 16C formed by excessive progress of melting of the surface layer.
