PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic light emitting element which can accept any electrode kind of a cathode and has the light output of extremely high efficiency and high luminance and is extremely durable. SOLUTION: The organic light emitting element 10 comprises an anode 2, a cathode 5 and a layer composed of an organic compound held between the anode 2 and the cathode 5, the layer composed of the organic compound includes at least an electron injection layer 4, and at least one kind of phosphorus ylide compounds expressed by general formula (I) is included in the electron injection layer 4.
