PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make gap management easier by avoiding an insert stroke of a male tab becoming longer. SOLUTION: A female terminal fitting 10 includes a cylindrical body part 30 in which a male tab 70 of a mating side is inserted along an axial center A, and an elastic contact piece 80 which is extended to the rear side within the body part 30, for sliding on the inner surface of the body part 30 by its free end. The inner surface of the body part 30 comprises a first sliding surface 51 for displacing the free end, with an interval between the body part 30 and the axial center A being constant, from a sliding start position 43 of the free end of the elastic contact piece 80 to a middle point of sliding position 44, and a second sliding surface 52 for displacing the free end in a way that the interval between the body part 30 and the axial center A becomes wider from the siding middle position 44 of the free end of the elastic contact piece 80 to a sliding completion 45.
