PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a plurality of images to be viewed stereoscopically with high resolution. SOLUTION: A lighting device 10 includes a plurality of photoconductive members 11R and a plurality of photoconductive members 11L which are arrayed in plane. An optical body 30 projects emitted light from each photoconductive member 11R in a direction DR to the right eye of an observer and emitted light from each photoconductive member 11L in a direction DL to the left eye. A liquid crystal device 20 displays images by controlling transmissivity to emitted light from the optical body 30 by pixels. A lighting drive circuit 52 emits the light from each photoconductive member 11R in a period FR and light from each photoconductive member 11L in a period FL. A liquid crystal drive circuit 54 drives the liquid crystal device 20 to display the image for the right image in the period FR and the image for the left eye in the period FL.
