A coating composition and an optical member having the low refractive film formed with the coating composition are provided to form the film having excellent light transmittance and to apply a coating method with production costs. A coating composition a binder and a sodium fluoride magnesium sol in which light transmittance of wavelength 500nm at the optic path length 10mm is 80% or more, wherein the sol is prepared to become 5 mass % of the sodium fluoride magnesium(NaF.MgF2) concentration. The optical member formed with a low refractive film is obtained by coating an optical member with the coating composition.
