<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of arranging each development unit at their reference position (home position) by simplifying an apparatus structure without employing a reference position detector of a conventional type and arranging a reference development unit at the reference position in the image forming apparatus having a plurality of the development units mounted on a development unit rack. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus forms a toner patch image Tp in the development units (4K, 4C, 4M or 4Y) at a development position, discriminates the development unit at the development position by discriminating the color of the patch image in a toner density detection sensor 10 or discriminates the development unit at the development position from an inherent information storing part (CSIC) 40 mounted on the development unit, and arranges the reference development unit 4K at the reference position (for instance, the development position) based on the discrimination result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
