Disclosed is the use of a composition comprising imexon in the manufacture of a medicament for administration in combination with an antineoplastic nucleic acid binding agent for treating cancer in a human patient in need of such treatment, said medicament containing a therapeutically effective amount of said composition to provide a synergistic therapeutic cytotoxic effect in combination with the antineoplastic nucleic acid binding agent.
