PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus which enables a uniform coated face to be obtained after blowing out an excess amount of a coating solution applied to a web. SOLUTION: The coating apparatus is provided with an air knife head comprising at least a lower blade installed in the upstream side of a running web and an upper blade installed in a downstream and the rip tip end part of the upper blade has a linear or curved shape opened toward the downstream side of the web and the tip end position of the upper blade is closer to the web than the tip end position of the lower blade.
