摘要 A dual fingerprint recognizing apparatus and a method thereof are provided to minimize errors in detecting fake fingerprints and recognizing unauthorized persons by performing both the semiconductor type and the optical type fingerprint recognition. A dual fingerprint recognizing method comprises the following several steps. If a fingerprint acquisition unit receives a fingerprint image from a semiconductor type sensor(S301), the fingerprint acquisition unit determines that a finger of a user touches on the first fingerprint input window and the second fingerprint input window and drives an optical type sensor(S303). The fingerprint acquisition unit transmits the first fingerprint image and the second fingerprint image, received from the optical type sensor and the semiconductor type sensor, to the first image processor and the second image processor, respectively, and then, the first image processor and the second image processor generate the first fingerprint data and the second fingerprint data, respectively(S305). An authentication unit authenticates the first fingerprint data and the second image fingerprint data(S307). If both the first fingerprint data and the second fingerprint data are successfully authenticated, the authentication unit determines that a user's fingerprint is finally authenticated(S309). If either the first fingerprint data or the second fingerprint data is authenticated(S311), the authentication unit provides the authentication result for the fingerprint acquisition unit and the fingerprint acquisition unit generates new fingerprint data by a failed type sensor(S313). The authentication unit authenticates the new fingerprint data, and if the new fingerprint data is successfully authenticated, determines that the user's fingerprint is finally authenticated(S315). If neither the first fingerprint data nor the second fingerprint data is successfully authenticated in the step S311 or the new fingerprint data is not authenticated in the step S315, the authentication unit determines that authentication of the user's fingerprint is finally failed(S317).
