PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for facilitating wound healing. SOLUTION: An electrode system (10) for covering a whole wounded region and generating current penetrating into the whole wound region is provided. The electrode system is formed so as to flow current from one electrode to the other electrode across the wound and is equipped with two oriented electrodes (22, 24). The first electrode (22) is applied to the wound region and the second electrode (24) surrounds the first electrode and applied to the skin surrounding the wound region. Two electrodes (22, 24) can be attached to an oxygen-permeable layer which gives support to the electrodes (22, 24) and enables breathing of the wound region. An electric insulation element (26) may be arranged between two electrodes (22, 24). A power source (40) (may be a limited region of the electrode system or a region distant from the electrode system) is provided for applying a voltage between the electrodes.
