A Mura detecting device and a driving method thereof are provided to detect the Mura defect of an LCD panel using a region luminance data accumulation unit and a luminance difference calculation unit, thereby detecting the Mura defect before producing the LCD panel as a finished product. A Mura detecting device(105) comprises a keyboard(110), a CPU(Central Processing Unit)(120), a graphic card(130), an ADC(Analog to Digital Converter)(160), and a CCD(Charge Coupled Device)(170). The keyboard inputs a command for inspecting the Mura defect of an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel. The CPU outputs the gray image of a predetermined gray successively according to an inspection command by the keyboard. The graphic card supplies the gray image received from the CPU to the LCD module. The CCD scans the gray image supplied to the LCD module to calculate luminance data. The ADC converts the calculated luminance data to analog data. The CPU includes a region luminance data accumulation unit(140) and a luminance difference calculation unit(150). The luminance difference calculation unit detects the presence of a luminance difference region using the analog luminance data outputted from the ADC and records the luminance value of the luminance difference region. The region luminance data accumulation unit accumulates the luminance data value of the luminance difference region by region.
