Disclosed are a means and a method useful for the promotion of the recovery from blood cell depletion. Specifically disclosed are: (a) R-spondin 2 or 3 protein; (b) a nucleic acid encoding R-spondin 2 or 3 protein; (c) an expression vector carrying a nucleic acid encoding R-spondin 2 or 3 protein; and (d) an agent for promoting the recovery from blood cell depletion, which comprises at least one cell transformed with a nucleic acid encoding R-spondin 2 or 3 protein or an expression vector carrying the nucleic acid.
