A handheld dehider (10) comprising cutting disks (12), a drive mechanism for driving the disks in opposed cutting oscillations including an eccentric shaft and a first counterbalance mass (48), a main drive gear (30) mounted on the eccentric shaft and connected to rotate the shaft, a pair of pushrods (18, 20), each pushrod being connected between an eccentric shaft portion (48) and its respective cutting disk, the first counterbalance mass located on a first side of the pushrods, and a counterbalance cup (54) mounted on the eccentric shaft, the counterbalance cup including a second counterbalance mass (52) located on an opposite side of the pushrods from the first counterbalance mass, a motor (24) for driving the main drive gear, and a housing having the drive mechanism and motor mounted therein, the housing including a removable blade cover and a removable drive cover, the drive mechanism being removable without removing the motor when the blade cover and drive cover are removed. |
