An image sensor is provided to realize an autofocus image sensor which minimizes an error in detecting position due to variations and the like by controlling accumulation of electric charges. An image sensor includes a standard portion(7), a reference portion(8), and a signal control portion(6). The standard portion includes a CCD(charge transferring unit,1-1), a pixel array charge detector(2-1), a monitoring charge detector(2-3), a pixel array(3-1), monitoring pixels(4-1), and a control electrode(5-1). The monitoring pixels are used for monitoring an average light amount of the pixel array. The pixel array charge detector detects signal charges from the pixel array. The monitoring charge detector detects signal charges from the monitoring pixels. The control electrode controls supply of charges from the pixel array to the CCD. |
