<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which performs control corresponding to a genuine toner cartridge in a predetermined case even if a toner cartridge equipped with no storage device is loaded. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus copes with the genuine toner cartridge equipped with an RFID tag 52, the genuine toner cartridge equipped with no RFID tag 52 and other toner cartridge respectively. The image forming apparatus is equipped with a counter 110 counting a value concerning image formation, a toner deletion sensor 135, an RFID tag reader 160, and a control part 100. When a situation where the toner cartridge exists is determined, and the counted value by the counter 110 exceeds a predetermined value and then predetermined data is not read from the toner cartridge 28 by the RFID tag reader 160, the control part 100 makes the control corresponding to the other toner cartridge.
