PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive optical semiconductor module in which a lens for adjusting an optical axis between an optical semiconductor element and a fiber and also a focal point is fixed to a carrier without being affected by the fixing. SOLUTION: The optical semiconductor module includes: an optical semiconductor element to be fixed to a chip carrier; an optical fiber that is optically coupled to the optical semiconductor element and a lens that optically connects the optical semiconductor element and the fiber. The optical semiconductor module is characterized in that it is provided with an annular ring. The annular ring has a non-circular inner circumferential surface with which a circle having a diameter not larger than the outer diameter of the lens touches internally and in which the lens is fitted and the annular ring is fixed to the chip carrier.
