An optical recording medium is provided to prevent data loss since a first area of a reflection layer in an information area is made of a material including gold. An optical recording medium comprises a substrate(232), a reflection layer(234), and a recording layer(236). The reflection layer, placed on the substrate, reflects the projected laser beam. The recording layer is placed on the reflection layer. A first area(234a) of the reflection layer is made of a material having gold. An area(234b) except for the first area of the reflection layer is made of alloy including silver or gold.
