The invention relates to a workpiece carrier (110) for conveying a workpi ece to be painted, particularly a vehicle body, through at least one electro phoretic painting bath and by means of at least one conveyance device follow ing the electrophoretic painting bath. The carrier comprises at least one el ectrical contacting device (162) for conducting a coating current into the w orkpiece when the workpiece is conveyed through the electrophoretic painting bath, and at least one contact surface (122) through which the workpiece ca rrier (110) comes into contact with the conveyance device following the elec trophoretic painting bath. In order to avoid the rubbing off of the electrop horetic paint on the conveyance device following the electrophoretic paintin g bath, it is suggested that at least one contact surface (122) is electrica lly insulated from the at least one contacting device (162).
