<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer electrolyte material that aims at gaining both of high proton conductance and low-fuel crossover, has improved mechanical strength, hot water resistance, and hot methanol resistance, and achieves high output, high-energy density, and long-term durability when forming a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, and to provide a polymer electrolyte membrane made of the polymer electrolyte material, a membrane electrode assembly, and the polymer electrolyte fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The polymer electrolyte material at least contains a monomer structure having an acid group, a monomer structure having a basic group in a main chain, and a neutral monomer structure as copolymer.
