PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing and drying machine which enables an opening or closing state of a lid of an air outlet for discharging a part of air during drying operation to be surely grasped and improves drying efficiency. SOLUTION: The washing and drying machine includes the air outlet for exhausting the air in a water receiving tank 6 outside during the drying operation, an air exhaust damper 34 turnably provided between an open position for opening the air outlet and a close position for closing the air outlet, a stepping motor turning the air exhaust damper 34 between the open position and the close position by being driven by a predetermined quantity, and a microswitch detecting the open/close position of the air exhaust damper 34 when the stepping motor is driven by the predetermined quantity.
