PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve power saving and responsiveness by predicting a disk drive which seems to be accessed the next, and supplying a power source to the predicted disk drive in an early stage based on an access request from a host in this storage system. SOLUTION: A prediction part 7 compares the latest access request from a host 2 with the past access pattern registered in access pattern management information 8, and detects a disk drive 3 predicted to be accessed the next by the host 2.
