A method and an apparatus for compensating a time delay in a signal processing are provided to prevent sound degradation by compensating a time synchronization difference between time series signal and a downmix to be processed with the time series signal. An apparatus for compensating a time delay in a signal processing includes a first decoding unit(100c) and a second decoding unit(200c). The first decoding unit receives an audio signal having matched time synchronization between time series signal and a downmix signal according to a first decoding scheme. The first decoding unit decodes the downmix signal. The second decoder is coupled and is operated with the first decoder. The second decoder receives the downmix signal decoded in at least one of two downmix access domains. If the coding is performed based on a second decoding scheme using the time series signal and the received downmix signal, the second decoder compensates a time synchronization difference between the time series signal and the received downmix signal.
