PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power unit using a piezoelectric transformer which can get a wide voltage variable range from high voltage of kV order to low voltage of approximately 10 V and aa wide power variable width and besides can supply power stably. SOLUTION: This unit includes a piezoelectric transformer 20 which transforms applied drive voltage and supplies it as output voltage to a load, an output detector 13 which detects the output voltage of this piezoelectric transformer 20, a duty ratio control means 16 which controls the duty ratio of the drive voltage to be applied to the piezoelectric transformer 20 so that the output voltage detected by this output detector 13 may be equal to a preset output voltage value, a drive voltage controller 11 which includes a dropper control voltage variable control means 17 that controls dropper control voltage, and a piezoelectric transformer drive 12 which applies the drive voltage controlled by this drive voltage controller 11 to the piezoelectric transformer 20.
