The method involves connecting a terminal to a computing network and initiating a virtual protocol network (VPN) after identifying and controlling hardware of the terminal when the terminal is powered. An Internet protocol (IP) address is assigned to the terminal via the VPN using a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) by a server. A kernel of an operating system is downloaded to the terminal from the server and is executed in the terminal. An independent claim is also included for a terminal connected to a server.
