PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor which suppresses exposure memory without disposing a discharging means and can obtain a high-quality image, and an image forming apparatus using the electrophotographic photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor 10 includes a conductive support 12 and a laminate type photosensitive layer 20 formed by sequentially stacking a charge generating layer 22 and a charge transport layer 24 from the conductive support 12 side, wherein only the charge generating layer 22 contains at least one of compounds of a specific structure having a silyl group (-Si(R)<SB>3</SB>) [e.g., (C<SB>6</SB>H<SB>5</SB>)<SB>2</SB>C<SB>6</SB>H<SB>3</SB>Si(R)<SB>3</SB>].
