The movement of an animal body is detected and the animal body can be tracked even if the animal body enters in an area out of preset positions initially registered. An animal body automatic tracking device (1) comprises a movement detecting section (11) for detecting the movement of an animal body from images acquired in time series from an image input sec (2), a tracking section (12) for tracking the animal body by controlling the platform of the image input section (2) toward the direction in which the animal body moves according to the results of the movement detection by the movement detecting section (11), an area managing section (13) for newly registering a preset position indicating the area for which the movement detecting section (11) detects the movement and the tracking section (12) tracks the animal body and managing the registered preset positions, and a circuiting/monitoring section (14) for circuiting/monitoring the preset positions determined/managed by the area managing section (13). If the position in which the animal body tracking is lost is different from the initially set preset positions, the position is additionally registered as a new adaptive preset position.
