<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-sensitive recording medium which can obtain high sensitivity even at a high printing speed and is almost free from a sticking phenomenon. <P>SOLUTION: This heat-sensitive recording medium keeps a support overlaid with an undercoat layer composed mainly of a pigment and an adhesive and a heat-sensitive recording layer containing a leuco dye and a coloring agent in that order. The pigment contained in the undercoat layer comprises a secondary particle, with 30 to 1,000 nm in average particle diameter, which is made up of a flocculated amorphous silica primary particle with 3 to 70 nm in particle diameter.
