<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic apparatus and an IC card which can remarkably improve security because trials more than a maximum value in the allowable number of collation trials are not executed by resetting a count value of a collation trial allowable frequency counter to a previously registered prescribed value when the invalidity of the count value is decided in order to confirm the validity of the count value of the counter before executing an instruction. <P>SOLUTION: By confirming the validity of the collation trial allowable frequency counter on the basis of power activation in an IC card supporting a collation function and an authentication function, the validity of a count value of the collation trial allowable frequency counter is confirmed before executing a command, and when the invalidity of the count value is decided, the collation trial allowable frequency counter is reset to the previously registered prescribed value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
