A method of preparing a rapid-hardening artificial resin composition such as coating compositions and lacquers comprises continuously withdrawing by mechanical means a polyglycidyl ether resin and a hardening agent in a flowable condition from separate receptacles in constant proportions, supplying the components to a mixing device and mixing them together in the absence of a gaseous phase. The mechanical means for withdrawing the components from the receptacles and for feeding the components to the mixing device may comprise pressure cylinders having dimensions related in a predetermined ratio and containing coupled pistons movable by mechanical or hydraulic pressure. The mixing device is combined with an apparatus (see Group XXIX) having an outlet nozzle for applying or spraying the composition on to either confined or large areas. The components before they are mixed together, or the finished hardenable resin may be heated or cooled. The components may be rendered free from bubble forming substances by subjecting them to reduced pressure, if desired at a raised temperature, before or after they have been introduced into the receptacles.
