<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device having high reliability and longevity by suppressing the peeling of sealing resin and an opening inner edge in a concave of a housing. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device is equipped with: a light emitting element having a pair of electrodes; the housing provided with the concave accommodating the light emitting element; a first lead electrode and a second lead electrode which are exposed at the bottom of the concave; a pair of electrodes of a semiconductor device; a conductive member by which the first lead electrode and the second lead electrode are electrically connected to each other; a translucent sealing material filled in the concave; and a granular additive contained in the sealing material. The inner wall surface of the concave is provided with a shading unit shading light irradiated from the light emitting element to the opening inner edge of the concave, and an additive amount of the granular additive in the sealing material is adjusted to an amount for raising the dispersion of the light in a primary region below the shading unit, and adjusted to an amount for suppressing the dispersion of the light in a secondary region above the shading unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
