A parking assistant apparatus in a vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to park the vehicle in a narrow space safely by executing first speed reduction when a steering angle is sharply changed from 0° in a reverse movement of the vehicle and executing second speed reduction when a steering angle is sharply changed to 0°. A parking controller(100) judges an outer circumstance of the vehicle through a sensor(300), calculates the distance and a steering angle to the parking place, and controls the steering of an EPS(Electric Power Steering,410) through a communication line. When the steering angle is sharply changed from 0° in a reverse movement of the vehicle, first speed reduction is forcibly executed, and then released. When the steering angle is sharply changed to 0° in the reverse movement of the vehicle, second speed reduction is forcibly executed, and then released.
