<p>During the test of drive units such as internal combustion engines, gears or the similar, and also for other purpose, the determination of at least a movable part position is required. Up to now, said operation is carried out, for example, in a capacitive manner. Said measurement is, however, associated with requirements and is not always performable. The invention relates to a method for determining at least the position of the movable part of a drive unit consisting in illuminating said part or exposing it to a light source and in determining the passage of the light between a moving part and a corresponding part. During the movement of the part, the passage of the light varies or can be interrupted for a shot time, thereby making it possible to obtain reliable information on a respective part instantaneous position. The inventive method can be carried out in a more universal manner than a known method for determining the position of a movable part in a capacitive manner, in particular independently of the part material.</p> |
