PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To respond to demand of quick acceleration or the like according to driver's needs in a vehicular automatic transmission provided with a twin clutch type transmission. SOLUTION: When a step skip shift down switch 15 at a steering wheel 12 is operated, shift down skipping two steps like from seventh speed to fourth speed, from sixth speed to third speed, is executed. In a case of present seventh speed travel, engine speed at a time of shifting from a present operation condition to the fourth speed is estimated. If the engine speed is higher than a predetermined engine speed, control of shift down skipping two steps is canceled even if the step skip shift down switch 15 is operated, or indication 30 not permitting the operation is displayed.
