PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for discarding scrap which ensure downward falling of scrap generated when cutting a workpiece by means of a simple mechanism without requiring a wide space, and a punching die using the device. SOLUTION: When the upper die 3 descends to cut workpiece W, a knock-out member 6 attached to the upper die 3 in such a way as to be vertically movable is lifted while being kept in contact with the upper surface of workpiece W, and scrap S of workpiece W is held between a pair of upper-die cutting edges 30. When the upper die 3 ascends, an extruding section 43 arranged on a pad 4 comes in contact with the knock-out member 6 and presses the knock-out member 6 downward, and scrap S is pressed by the knock-out member 6 to fall from between the pair of the upper-die edges 30.
